My Mother's nephew, Michiel Henneman, has an atelier together with his wife (Hartog & Henneman) where he mainly makes jewellery. I've never really been into jewelry in specific, but I was always interested in what he made. So when he offered me to come over to his workplace and make my own ring, it wasn't a hard choice for me at all. I always like to try out new things and learn about them and this was a great opportunity to do that. I didn't step into this project with a certain concept in mind, I just started shaping it and see where it would lead me.
I made a silver ring with the Cire Perdue technique. It's a technique where you make a model out of wax. This isn't the negative shape like you would have in a regular mold, but basically the wax gets lost and it gets replaced by the final material of the ring - in this case silver. Since the mold gets lost in the process, I'm sure that my ring is a unique piece and it will be unique forever.
